About the Book
|
The American Civil War fought from 1861 to 1865 was a controversy time in the United States history. The spoil of war at hand was slavery or no slavery. Approximately 750,000 people died, the Confederacy collapsed, slavery was abolished, and 4 million slaves were freed. Within those 4 million slaves, two families existed that led to the creation of this book.
Somewhere in the vastness of this great country history, the Williams and the Jones families shared moments of love and produced descendants. The Williams family lineage led to 22 descendants of slavery, which was difficult to track because slaves were not recorded on census data as people, but as property. The Jones Family also produced a great number of descendants. Both families likely shared similar challenges while migrating as slaves to Milledgeville and Macon, Georgia.
Dr. Fred Stinson researched both families past, and tried to connected lost pieces of his family journey through history. His aim was to uncover their journey, and document what contributions the descendants bestowed to the infrastructure of the New South.
