This book is the History of the most written about period of Human Existence brought alive. After reading 'Code Name Sonny", I could hardly wait a moment to turn the pages of this amazing sequel, and boy, did I get my money's worth! K E Pottie has woven a tale with roots going back to that dark and virtually unknown period of WWII which no one has ever written about. To avoid spoilers is difficult while reviewing this book because one virtually feels like blurting out all its numerous secrets with every line one writes! This is a story of great adventure and survival in a deadly environment where anyone who hesitated even a moment in the race for surviving the darkness of Hitlers world war II canvass, will perish. It is a story of courage, great love and heroism - a page turner. The author has intertwined the timelines from the present day to the past with great skill and produced a masterpiece which will surely enter the annals of history as path breaking. I have no hesitation in awarding this fine novel a resounding 5 Star and recommend it as one of the essential readings of any person old or young.

The Spirit of Sonny Prevails For those who fell under the spell of CODE NAME SONNY be alerted to the fact that the second volume in this series, MOUNTAIN OF FIRE, is every bit as good, and if that first book is still in your memory back (which doubtless it is) then this novel has the same sense of watching a special series like HOMELAND or NEWSROOM on television. That may be a poor comparison for some - reading is always a better pastime than passively watching a TV drama - but the idea comes across. Author K.E. Pottie knows how to create and build suspense and thrills that makes the decision to put the book down once started a challenging one! Where Pottie learned his skills as a writer is not evident from his resume: his knowledge of military history and the interstice of espionage within resistance groups is understandable in that spent 13 years in military service in the Army, leaving at the rank of Major. During that time, Ken served as a company commander during Desert Shield and Desert Storm, earned the Bronze Star, Kuwait Liberation Medal and Combat Air Medal. The rest comes naturally.

The story continues... I really enjoyed this second installment of the 'Sonny' series. The first book made me feel like I was a character in the story. This second book walked me along the paths our G.I.s used to get to safety from the Nazis. I've travelled that area and the found the author's understanding of cultures, terrain and challenges to be spot on! I highly recommend reading Mountains of Fire as a follow-up to book one, Code Name: Sonny. I'm also looking forward to a future 'Sonny' book. It's good to read about a hero! He's a man we'd all benefit from meeting, if he were only real.
