About the Book
|
E. T. (Cy) Eberhart mixes biblical passages, memorable stories, personal insights, and a dash of humor to cook up this savory batch of slightly burnt offerings for fun and spiritual profit. they show the profound in the simple, the significant in the trivial, and the humor and hope in the most hopeless situations.
Eberhart's mixture of dry humor and seriousness enables each of us to see our pride, our foibles, and our silliness, in a new and not-to-serious light. these lesson-teaching stories, similar to biblical parables, also help us to allow others the tolerance we're so anxious to claim for ourselves.
This is a collection of Eberhart's Burnt Offerings that he included in his weekly "Perspective" bulletin when he was chaplain at Salem Hospital in Salem, Oregon. Copies were on the patients' food trays Sunday evening or on trays during the week for the newly admitted. They appeared to have some staying power because few were found in the trash when rooms were cleaned.
