About the Book
|
Welcome to The Essential CAFÉ EDMOVIA, Cup of Joe poetry for Cup of Joe folks. A poetry book of over 60 published poems plus another 100+ selected poems of informal poetry that is accessible, approachable, easy to read and enjoy. Some haiku and micro poems to start but mostly free verse “Cup of Joe” narrative memoir style poems that tell a story or capture a vignette of life that you, the reader, can identify with, easily visualize and imagine or could have happened to you. You will not find formal poetry like sonnets, villanelles, limericks or a math sheet sestina at the CAFÉ EDMOVIA. If that is what you are looking for, may I suggest you consider a trip up to Highbrow Town to get a ‘Highbucks’ experience where a latte foam art barista can assist you with poetic feet, syllable count, line length, meter and rhyme, etc. That poetry is fulfilling and satisfying for some, but if you want to sit back, select your own “Cup of Joe” poem with a full pot of friendly refills written for the masses of “Cup of Joe” regular grind folks, CAFÉ EDMOVIA is the place for you. Come on in, relax and pour yourself a down to earth “Cup of Joe” poem, light or strong, short or long.
No degree in English literature, philosophy or a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in poetry required for admittance to CAFÉ EDMOVIA. If you have a motorcycle or the desire to acquire one and “two lane” the USA, or savor the memories of having done so, you will enjoy your stay at the CAFÉ EDMOVIA. Having grown up as a “Boomer” in the country on a “non-profit” farm, aka “a farm that never made a profit”, will also enhance your stay.
For the Random Reader: The poems in CAFÉ EDMOVIA are organized and arranged with the “random reader” in mind featuring the RANDOM READER ORGANIZATIONAL METHOD (RROM). The RROM has been developed specifically for CAFÉ EDMOVIA and it has two easy key features: Feature One: Poems are arranged from short to long, front to back, to help the random reader quickly find a poem that he or she has time to read. Feature Two: To avoid any contrasting levity, mood and/or tone conflict between adjacent poems and assist the random reader in selecting a poem tone they prefer, there are coffee cup symbols placed above the title of each titled poem. The levity of titled poems is indicated with 1 to 5 coffee cup symbols. One cup = meant to be funny, five cups= meant to be serious. Simple, easy and helpful to the random reader.
Cup of Joe Poetry: Accessible easy to read and understand poems from light brew to dark brew that you can enjoy, ponder, have a laugh and a friendly free refill... all without a barista to explain everything. Poems organized for the random reader. Pour your own poem. Fine grind or course grind. Light poetry, dark poetry... you choose. Head scratchers to belly laughers the “Flinger of Zingers” author reflects on his “Boomer” experience down at the CAFÉ EDMOVIA. If high desert vanishing points and the art of roadside motorcycle maintenance run in your caffeinated blood, that’s a plus.
HUMOR: Have some, it will help. Enjoy the Easter Eggs... if you spot them.

Edward Ferri Jr. writes the full range of poetic lines from humorous to serious that make readers wish they had written them. His adventures on “Little Curry,” his motorcycle that took him on roads taken and not are chronicled and filled with people and places where we all would want to travel and people we’d love to meet. As a fan of Ed’s poetry, I say sit in a comfortable chair and enjoy the ride.
