Simple Camping provides an introduction for novices and a review for the slightly experienced to tent camping and traveling on a budget. The emphasis is on camping at established camp sites. This book covers choosing a destination, planning, organizing, packing, and travel. Work sheets help you plan all aspects of the trip and estimate the cost.


An introduction to public land and lists of national forests, parks, and monuments help the traveler select destinations. Brief descriptions are given for some less well known and less crowded forests throughout the United States.


The author suggests activities for travel, at camp, and for fair and foul weather. Set up and camp etiquette help make the trip more comfortable. Recipes and suggestions for preparing, transporting, and cooking food are provided from the author's experience at feeding one to a dozen or more economically at camp.


The author's experience is told with a few tales about camping trips. Some tales are about what not to do, usually learned from experience.


Ideas are presented for sharing the fun and savouring the memories.



About the Author
W. K. Garber's work as an environmental and project manager and geologist provided the opportunity to live, work, camp, and hike in many parts of the USA. The author camped at remote sites and in establed campgrounds, climbed high mountains, walked on beaches, hiked well known routes and game trails.
