|
For the first time teacher wishing to take students on a domestic or international trip, this manual has an abundance of useful material. This manual is written by two teachers, Jerry West and Barbara West, who have taken 31 trips with over 1150 students.
The authors have been highly successful, and wish to share their experiences. They have covered many topics, but here are the highlights: Picking a travel agency, getting approval, recruiting, fundraising ideas, legal concerns and sample forms, passports, U.S. customs, hotel and airport security, how to pay for goods and services in foreign countries, tipping, packing tips, first aid and sickness, home stays, bus rides, what to do on departure and return days, and more.
The authors have set the manual up where the suggest things, and also share practical and personal experiences. When they started, there was no guide on this topic for teachers. The Wests would like this manual to help teachers overcome many of the questions and anxieties that they had.
