The interview with World, and European Cup winner Nobby Stiles is particularly poignant and moving, as is the interview with former United star Albert Scanlon.
His description of the games from Manchester United’s first ever excursion into competitive European soccer, when they became the first English club to enter what was then European Cup, are brilliantly told, making the reader feel as though they were in attendance themselves.
Many of his articles, especially those written more than 10 years ago, describe the way he saw the route which the English game was taking, and it is remarkable just how accurate his predictions were.
