About the Book
|
The Professional Humanitarian speaks to the core of all human services professionals from teacher’s assistants, to police officers, to nurses, and so on. Individuals that choose this profession encounter challenge unique to this industry. The challenges that organizations face are maintaining competent personnel. This book very clearly defines the nature of behavior (both challenging and otherwise) as well as methods of intervention that will support the caregiver remaining calm and focused. This project aims to cultivate a more prepared human services professional by prioritizing the influence the professional’s behavior has on crisis situations. The project is created to be simple but contemporary and is delivered in 7 principles. The primary audience for this project will be both administrative and direct care personnel of human services organizations. The methods shared in the book have been drawn from a diversified human services experience that has provided direct care for individuals along the entire continuum (from children to the elderly). The book shares examples of the similar behavioral characteristics of individuals with cognitive impairment along this continuum. Family members of those affected that are not living in care environments can benefit as well from the use of these very simple principles.
