About the Book
While flying south for the winter, *Lonnie the Loon* and his friends encounter strong winds that blow them off course. Instead of landing on coastal waters, they end up on a lake in the middle of the desert. Lonnie is uncertain about his home for the winter and hears strange and dangerous sounds in this dry and unfamiliar land. He forms a friendship with an unlikely character, a Quail named Quincy. Quincy teaches him about other animals in the Southwest desert, including a coyote that makes them both run for cover.
