About the Book
The quiet, bubbling creek behind the slave quarters was a place of escape for both Sarah, the Master's daughter, and Beau, the newly purchased slave. When the war comes home to the neighbor's, and then to the plantation itself, a suspicion of murder spins their lives apart.

The necessities of survival push Sarah and Beau in opposite directions. Both take what they need to survive and become adults in completely different worlds - Sarah to the city of St. Louis - Beau to a life as a Buffalo Soldier.

Westward expansion, Indian wars and tragedy had a way of revealing the plans God had for them....
