About the Book
|
This
sensuous quest weaves a powerful, New Age message and reveals intriguing
information on Reincarnation, the Mayan Time Travel Ritual, Toltecs,
and the Atlantis Connection between Ancient Civilizations.
Often playful, always poignant, The Power of Love is
a magical journey to an exotic land. Danger lurks around every corner;
wild beast, primitive Indians, and the threat of human sacrifice looms
on the equinox.
Central Florida, where Indian mounds are as plentiful as legends.
Travis and Dawn, are about to be divorced, but on an Indian temple
mound they stumble through a door to the distant past. No amulets,
tornadoes, or ruby slippers, the key to this door is the transcendent
power of love.
Lost in a cypress swamp in 1000AD, Travis and Dawn meet Indians who
tell them to follow the river to the City of Light and seek help from
the Shaman in the Temple of the Sun. The beautiful city was built
by Toltecs who vanished from pre-Columbian Mexico and settled in Florida,
establishing an advanced civilization.
Forced to relive tragic past lives, Travis and Dawn must rediscover
their love to perform a Mayan Time Travel Ritual that will take them
home. But time is running out. If they can't achieve the "rapture
of oneness," they will die like the Starcrossed lovers in the Indian
legend Travis learned as a child.

What can I say but wow! The story and characters are developed with a delightful voice; scene descriptions are perfection. An R-rated fairytale, and if no one catches the Wizard of Oz parallel--it's their loss. The descriptions, the theories, the explanations of what might have happened historically all convince the reader that they are there and experiencing the ancient past. I found myself simply caught up in the story, the visual images and the characters' dilemma. I found it most intriguing.

Privett has written a sexy and sensual story. The plot is intricate and its complexity is well done. The story flows smoothly to a strong and fitting ending. She painted an amazing portrait of the setting, its people the main characters, etc. I could recommend the book just for the mental picture she paints of the society where Dawn and Travis end up.

I can honestly tell you that this book was absolutely stunning. Ms. Privett has done a glorious job of drawing the reader into Travis and Dawn's story. I quickly became immersed in the surroundings and customs of an ancient civilization, and found myself wondering if Travis and Dawn would be able to find the power of oneness before their time was up. The author has done quite a bit of research for this book, and it shows in her descriptions of this ancient civilization, its customs, and its people. The book was fast moving, sexy, and fun, with an element of mystery and danger thrown in for good measure. I enjoyed reading it and recommend it to anyone who wants a different type of time travel. This one won't disappoint.

I loved Power of Love. It was a strong, wonderful story, and the fact that it was set in such a unique time and place made it that much more enjoyable. As the title suggests, Dawn and Travis can only get home if they can find the power in their own love. Their journey to self discovery is an adventure--two people thrown into the wild unknown, not knowing how much of the history Travis's Grandfather told him is true and how much is story. The author helps Dawn and Travis realize what is truly important in life, and together they tell history like it's never been told before.
