About the Book
|
"Ethel J. David is an original...and it shows in her remarkable poetry. With enormous courage, this nonagenarian poet allows us to glimpse the "golden years," tarnish and all, and to understand both the soaring elation and the despair, too, of living long. ...It all makes for a book you'll want to return to often. One reading is definitely not enough." --Sally Friedman--freelance writer
"Ethel J. David's latest, Poet-Tree, leads us into her home, her life where the telephone does not ring, the mail box is empty and a somber realization that her time has not come, At 93, she write of physical rehabilitation and the escape from a home, back to her life, one reflected as lonely but free. David brings us to a place many of us may never experience, a place she seems to value but desires to leave behind." --Charles Loudon--the Fox Chase Review

About the Author |
|
Ethel J. David is a 95-year-old dynamo who just last year gave up her 25-year late-life career as a Weight Watchers lecturer. She re-started writing poetry during the process of doing her first book (My Lover the Rabbi, My Husband the Doctor: What more could a Jewish girl want?) with Cheryl Grady Mercier. Poetry and wordplay has become her new obsession. This collection represents her life and feelings as she faces her mortality.
She regularly speaks to groups about this book of poetry and her previous book. |
