About the Book
|
Remembrances covers three of the deadliest decades in human history, spanning the years 1917 through 1946. These adventures, set among constantly changing historical events of that era, follow an American family, the Hammers, and a British family, the Thatchers.
As the British struggle to fight off the Nazi rampage across Europe, the Americans will finally enter the war, sending all three Hammer boys into the conflict. The oldest Hammer son, Henry, will soon become part of the lives of Thatcher family of London's East End. Henry, forming an unbreakable bond with the hearty Thatcher's, will also find himself immersed in England's struggles as well as forming a romantic interest with the alluring but mysterious Kate, the widow of a British naval officer.
Although the story takes place predominantly during wartime, there are lighter moments and some of what it was like to be and American farm family and a middle class British family, all caught up in an ever deepening surge of German and Axis technology and brutality. While sometimes tested to their limits, both families will eventually prove that laughter, tenacity, and working together can and will overcome the worst evils.
