This is the story of a young kid fresh out of high school who joins the Navy to get an education. He got an education, but not the one he had expected. Follow him through boot camp, Vietnam, "A" school, and out into the fleet. He gets sent to Vietnam three times, loses his best friend, his girl friend and his adopted Chinese family. To realize what this young man went through, and how he somehow retained his sanity is heart wrenching. What he went through would break most men or drive them crazy. Rich was determined not to break but he did go a little crazy...

Richard Elliott graduated from high school in Foxboro, Massachusetts on June 6, 1962. Shortly thereafter he joined the Navy to take advantage of the GI Bill to further his education. He served honorably and received the National Defense Service Medal. He still lives locally and continues to write. |
