About the Book
|
If you ever wished you could have a “user’s manual” for interpersonal relationships, this book is it. The statistics on marital success are not comforting: one in every two marriages ends in divorce and relationship and family problems are the leading causes of referral to mental health delivery systems. As a Psychotherapist and Marriage and Family Therapist for almost forty years, Dr. Ferrandino believes that the preparation, understanding, and a comprehensive skill base (i.e., technology) necessary to manage the complex dynamics of marital and family systems are absent or insufficient and therefore the cause of these alarming statistics. Think about using a manual typewriter when a word processor is necessary. The first part of his book is a historical, philosophical, and instructional understanding of love and the types of love—The Territory of Love. The model that emerges from this section is the basis of the second “hands on” part—The Technology of Love. Employing anecdotes and examples from his many years of clinical and teaching experience, Dr. Ferrandino provides useful exercises for skill-building and practice. This book explains, demonstrates, and teaches the technology of love.
