About the Book
|
How do you survive the devastation of war? In July 1861, the Civil War reaches the White River hill country of the Southern Missouri Ozarks. When the heroine’s husband leaves to fight for the Union, she chooses to take their two-year-old son and live nearby with his family, for safety.
Over the next year, with the area overrun by the two armies, her family and their neighbors preyed on and finally driven out by the southern guerrillas known as bushwhackers, our heroine must find her own answer to this question.
