About the Book
|
Climb inside your professor’s mind and HACK COLLEGE.
Do you know what a “home run” professor is and how to find one? More importantly, does your favorite high school senior and soon-to-be college freshman know?
Drs. Timothy D. Holder and Jason R. Edwards think not. Their just-released book, Ask the Professor: What Freshmen Need to Know takes on topics other guide books don’t touch, including whether you really need to read the textbook, how to make the entire social transition to college and finding home-run professors.
Dr. Holder is a faculty member at Walter State Community College. His previous books include Nixon and His Men (2007). His coauthor, Dr. Jason R. Edwards, is on faculty at Grove City College in Pennsylvania.
This is a great graduation gift for those starting college and a refreshing perspective for those already matriculated.
Advance praise for Ask the Professor: What Freshmen Need to Know
“(The authors) employ an experiential as well as a straightforward approach to communicate ‘tried-and-true’ advice to incoming freshmen students in this publication. (Their) ‘lessons-of-life’ approach adds interest and enlightenment to their narration.” Dr. Wade McCamey, President, Walters State Community College
“A creative approach to helping high school graduates transition into…college life. Perfect for both the confident and the anxious student who may already be imagining what college might be like.” Dr. W. Brian Shelton, author of Martyrdom from Exegesis in Hippolytus, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs and Theology Professor, Toccoa Falls College.
“This book should be required reading for all seniors in high school. It covers the subject of college from every aspect and detail. It is also interesting, which surprised me!” Reed J. Landry, Assistant Principal, Gatlinburg-Pittman High School
“Many thanks to Dr. Holder and Dr. Edwards for this wonderful collection of practical vignettes discussing the many challenges and advantages experienced within higher education. With nifty writing and great wit, the authors encourage college students to embrace their opportunities for learning and for life. This book certainly will be recommended reading for my students and advisees.” Jeff W. Dennis, Assistant Professor of History and History Education, Kennesaw State University
