About the Book
|
Though much has been written about the Civil War, relatively little modern historical fiction is written from a Southern point of view. Stories of the Confederate South is a collection of short fiction presenting a variety of Southern characters, events, and issues, and it does so from a uniquely Southern perspective. Pittman carefully researched diaries, biographies, historical events, military records, and social trends to present a collection of stories that tells the story of the true South during and after the War Between the States.

Pittman’s love for Civil War history and his devotion to Southern Heritage led him to write this collection of eleven exceptional short stories on the subject of the South and the Southerners he found during his research of diaries, biographies, and specific historical events.

Thank you for your recent presentation at the Lincoln Parish Library. It was a pleasure to hear you read from your own work and to learn how you researched your characters for the short stories. I have now had an opportunity to read and enjoy the entire collection of tales. What a delight!
