About the Book
|
Twelve-year
old Bonafacio Martinez dreams of becoming a famous treasure hunter
like his movie idol, Indiana Jones, but he hasn't had very
much luck.
His classmates in a small town in southern Arizona constantly tease
him and call him âBony Boy' because all he manages to
dig up are old skunk and coyote bones. When they learn that he also
likes bird watching, Bonafacio is soon known as âChicken Bony
Boy.'
Despite this constant teasing and name calling, young Bonafacio
continues to enjoy his two favorite hobbies  treasure hunting and
bird watching - with his loyal black wolf dog, Lobo, at his side.
On an exciting wilderness day hike in Madera Canyon, Bonafacio and
Lobo somehow manage to wander off the main trail. They soon realize
they are now lost, and it's suddenly getting awfully dark,
and awfully spooky looking, in the deep dark Santa Rita Mountains.
Join them on their first exciting adventure as they nervously try
to find their way back, soon running into all sorts of strange night
creatures, including a terrifying old ghost who wanders the canyon
in the moonlight, scaring everyone who encounters him. And this
ancient ghost draped in a raggedy old dark brown robe holds the
secret to a 200-year old canyon mystery.
Can Bony Martinez and Lobo find their way back to the park entrance
after wandering way too far from the main trail? And will they be
able to somehow solve the Mystery of Madera Canyon?
