About the Book
|
I never thought this could happen to me; truer words spoken by every person in the world at some point or another! Your spirit has been broken, and your heart aches for relief; just by hearing the words, “It’s cancer”! For what feels like eternity, you listen to instructions, take the referral appointments, and just try to remember you need to breathe. During our life, God has a profound way of poking us, then prodding us, and finally knocking us down so that we open our eyes, our hearts but mostly our ears, so we can hear what He has been placing right in front of us! Going to the doctor for regular check-ups never seemed a big deal, and many keep putting it off thinking they have plenty of time. Whether we are with a loved one or there ourselves; nothing can prepare us for a diagnosis of major diseases.
You wait until you are alone, or out of the doctor’s office before your emotions hit! Your words scream why this, why now, and why me? There are deep wrenching gasp of uncontrollable crying, begging answers from God! For a moment, time stops. Time becomes a whisper because you have no clue if you have enough of it left! But, we need to realize that everything happens for a purpose, trust God. We are reminded that God is trying to tell us who we are to Him. God was at our lowest and at our highest moments during life. Now at the unknowing, He is still here. He knows our chosen path; not our own, not our dreams, but His plan for our journey.
Preparing for when we are devastated, listening to the doctors, nurses, specialist; speaking in terms we have yet to understand, we die inside! As believers, we begin to doubt. As an unbeliever, we still have those feelings but don’t know where to turn! By diligently learning, applying and trusting God’s truths in our lives, we can develop a deep faith that will stand against unrelenting feelings. Feelings of isolation or being away from God leaves our souls in a turmoil. Having feelings of being without God keeps us isolated from feeling love, spiritual completeness or the ability to recover our health. Finding strength for a new day becomes a chore, harder than before. Pause, let God enter your mind and soul; asking Him; to take that brokenness away. Beseech Him with all your heart, for He knows your pain. In your eyes, others cannot fathom the broken spirit that is inside you right now; but God does! He knows and is there to give you comfort, to encourage you to move toward peace and understanding. Take the words of friends, family, pastors and embellish them; then get in the Bible to ensure growth.
Trusting and having faith in God is one of the hardest things we’ll work to achieve. Lose that fear and empower with faith! When our faith feels weak, allow the spirit to show up, receive that break through! When life catches us in doubt, break through. Cancer should not be what defeats our purpose here on earth. For many the word, cancer, produces sorrow; but this sorrow used correctly can help us to survive. If you want to cry while you are trying to survive then DO IT. Begin by taking that sorrow and tell the devil he is a liar! The seasons of life will keep coming, good and bad. Take one season at a time on the path to fulfillment in a personal relationship with Him. “And the Lord, He it is that doth go before thee; He will be with thee, He will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed,” Det. 31:8 Can I Reach You details my journey through breast cancer from the beginning to now with information for anyone on a similar path. Scriptures are added at several places to let someone find solace from God’s word. It is a soul searching guide to finding God while working through sickness.
