Identifying himself only as "Ronald," the candid teen quickly tells the reader: "I am the first person in my family to have a brain. Keep that in mind." But "Ronald" also informs us that "these sarcastic notes are being scribbled in a sanitarium somewhere in New England." Ronald is also the first person in his family to have a nervous breakdown.
