The Josiah Chronicles, a Christian science fiction novel by Ricky Herring, Follows Josiah Jones and his two friends Lenny Rogers and Paul Henry, through an amazing sequence of events. They begin by capturing a being from another world. While at first they seek to profit from their discovery, they soon become actors in the fulfillment of a five hundred year old Indian legend, the object of which is to help the being in his effort to return home. They soon find themselves on another planet where they discover that the God of the Universe that they are so familiar with has manifested Himself in the lives, thoughts, philosophies, and the institutions of that amazing world as well. What starts as a simple visit turns into full scale involvement in a war between the forces of belief against the forces of atheism, the result of which will determine the fate of that strange alien world. Thoughout this novel, which is formatted in three separate chronologically ordered stories, the main characters are confronted with questions that have hounded mankind since the beginning of time. Can there be true honor without cost? What does it really mean to be a friend? What is love? Is atonement possible? What would society be like if it was completely sold out to God? What form would the evolution of a society take that had completely purged itself of its faith? What is really important? Do I matter? In this novel, which is at once unapologetically Christian and unapologetically science fiction in its theme, Ricky Herring explores these and other questions of life and of faith. This collection of stories will offer the Christian reader an opportunity to grow in faith, while giving the unbeliever a small glimpse into the eternal, all in a format that will satisfy the science fiction lover in anyone.

The Josiah Chronicles is a well written novel full of extraordinary characters that face many obstacles in their life. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a story that will truly inspire you. The spiritual elements will have you turning the pages to get to the final chapter! Most modern good verses evil stories avoid spiritual content. Not so with "The Josiah Chronicles." Without being preachy, Ricky Herring weaves a brilliant story line capturing all of the spiritual longings felt by each of us. Herring brilliantly explores that longing through the life of his protagonist who, in the end, is someone we all wish to be. Until I read "The Josiah Chronicles" I was sure that the writing of good Christian fiction had died with C.S. Lewis. I now know that the art is alive and well. The book is an absolute work of genius. Ricky Herring truly has unique ability as an author.
