“We Love to Paint!” is a colorful and fun story that takes us along on a journey of learning as three primary color paint brushes and their friend paper learn to work together. There is a strong teaching in the text and illustrations about how cooperation leads to great results. This story teaches the young reader two important lessons. First, it helps the child understand how the primary colors interact to create many new colors. This is a great teaching tool as our young readers begin exploring art. Secondly, it teaches the child the importance of working together with others and how working together helps us create something that is even better than we originally expected. To help teach these points, the story uses bold, colorful, and fun illustrations. The story starts out very simple but as it develops, the uncooperative spirit of the characters adds complexity to what seems like a simple task. As the story builds, the characters begin learning to cooperate with each other, which in turn helps them develop their greatest work. “We Love to Paint!” is fun, engaging, and uses its illustrations to teach valuable lessons while still being very fun to read.
