About the Book
Drama, risk, chaos and a fast-paced lifestyle present plenty of unexpected challenges for Rye Chandler, a handsome forty year old divorced race driver and race team manager while poised on the threshold of an intense season of professional sports car racing. Nothing in this business, he reasoned, could ever be left to chance, which was ironic given the surprising twists and turns he was about to face in the next few months. Along with dealing with the rigors of his chosen profession, there was a meaningful romantic liaison that he never saw coming along with a teenage son who entered his life, the one he never knew he had. A major team sponsorship came and went, then returned. The first race of the season brought together a new team, a new sponsor, and new relationships. Then there was an accident involving a team car along with a podium finish for another. In Rye’s mind, that event was easily the most significant and rewarding of his career. It gave pause to the idea that he had to be in complete control of his destiny in order to achieve success. Of course, in the end, he came to realize that it was never about the race.
