Lee had the enviable talent of making his fans feel that they were his personal friends too ... a trait that helped bring him nationwide recognition and honors throughout his career. Lee Shannon Born Lowen Lee Slagle to Lee Roy and Beulah (Catlett) Slagle on a 90-acre farm in southeast Nebraska, Lee Shannon (radio name) spent 38 years as a disc jockey for Country Music Radio stations across the country. From the beginning of his broadcasting career at a small 100 watt, AM radio station (KTNC) in Falls City, Nebraska to such places as the Quad Cities on the banks of the Mississippi River to Ohio, Indiana, Kansas, Florida and California, Lee Shannon won many fans with his easygoing style, spinning the records of the stars, the up and comers and the want-to beís in Country Music. He is a two-time Country Music Association Disc Jockey of the Year (1980 and 1984) and was the 50th inductee into the Country Music Disc Jockey Hall of Fame in 1998. He is retired and lives in South Florida with Lee Ann, his wife of 44 years, and his family.
