About the Book
Tales You Wouldn’t Tell Your Mother is an outlandish read. It is highly entertaining while at the same time informative with nuggets about military life in days gone by and revelations about the Asia of years ago.

In the form of a fictionalized memoir by a reminiscing retired airman, Tales You Wouldn't Tell Your Mother is also a subtle introduction to the culture and society of Korea. Written for everyone, the book is a must read for those who have spent time in Korea before current social sensitivities changed US military culture. Anyone curious about what the military was like back in the day, especially regarding assignments in Asia of that period, will appreciate this book.

Thoughtful at times with wry reflections on life in general, the book also is liberally peppered with humor that ranges from the droll to the slapstick. Of course, there is inspired cursing, creative drinking, ribald pranking, and sex – even a bit of romance – all military style.

Both irreverent and disarmingly honest, Tales provides comical as well as poignant observations of personal interactions among service members themselves and their dealings with the people of one of America’s closest allies from the mid 1960s to the early 1980s. You won't find this sort of information in any textbook or official military document.
