About the Book
Destina is a young, Honduran girl riding the bus home from a trip to visit relatives in a nearby village. The long, hot bus ride is almost over when an ordinary day turns into a day of terror. Masked gunmen stop the driver as he slows to cross a dry river bed. Shouting and waving guns, they take over the bus. When one of the gunmen points the rifle in her direction, Destina promises God that if He gets her through the day alive, she will fight for a dream that she had given up as hopeless.

As Destina fights for her dream she finds the road to her goal littered with detours: poverty, disappointment and sometimes danger. Through Destinaís eyes the reader is given a birdís eye view of the challenges of daily life in this tiny Central American country.

When everything she has worked so hard for, seems to be ending in failure, Destina must make a decision. Does she choose the young man who loves her, or fight for her dream?

This mid-grade to young adult novel can be enjoyed by adults as well. It has a little something for everyone: romance, danger, and a glimpse into another culture.
