At a time when kings were kings and men were men, the land of Kadoria stood as the center of wealth and prosperity. Each year a masquerade was thrown by the palace to celebrate the kingdom’s prestige. Yet a shadow is cast upon the annual masquerade when Prince Adler Attora believes he overheard a plot of murder from the lips of the king’s high counselor. The plot turns out to find fulfillment in a retrieved bloody cloak. Adler makes haste to report the news to the king, yet falters when conversation implies the king may know and not only know but himself play a part. When the Anointing, a legend laid silent for years, also resurfaces, Adler is faced with the choice to live in the lies of his past or by the truth that has the power to change his time forever.
