Steen O’Mannon is an accountant who works for an accounting firm in north Florida. He’s forty-two, newly single, and has recently developed an interest in survivalism. When he awakes one morning to find cars stalled in the streets and a massive power outage, he realizes he’s been plunged into Survival Mode.
As conditions rapidly deteriorate in the aftermath of the EMP attack, he knows that his best chance for survival lies outside the city limits. Clad in body armor and armed with an assault rifle, he grabs his bugout bag and takes to the city streets. He finds downtown replete with street gangs and roving bands of marauders. As he blazes a trail through the urban jungle, he leaves a pile of bodies in his wake too numerous to count. Along the way he meets Rebecca Richardson, a beautiful young woman desperately in need of help. Together they fight to survive the mean city streets amidst a catastrophe of cataclysmic proportions.
When Steen and Becca finally put the city behind them, they come face to face with a group of heavily-armed government agents. That’s when they meet Ron Geralds, a serious survivalist who’s more than prepared to survive any crisis. Back at his high-tech compound, they’re privy to information which reveals the identity of the enemy and the U.S. military response. But when the black helicopters come and the compound is invaded, Steen and Becca discover that people aren’t always who they seem to be. Amidst unexpected plot twists and nonstop action, a story unfolds of relationships forged in chaos and lives that are forever changed.
