Since he won the lottery Jake's been spending his days sitting in the back of courtrooms, watching the legal system in action. When a friend, Maura Ferguson, is on trial for a murder Jake knows she didn't commit, he decides to put up the bail and see what happens. After all, he has the money. Before he knows it he has organized crime, a high-powered lawyer, and a local television personality all trying to help him find the real killer. Jake knows Maura is innocent. They were at a movie the afternoon the murders were committed. But soon Jake realizes they weren't at the movie all afternoon, and maybe Maura could have done it. So who did do it? Is he sure Maura didn't do it? Is having the biggest crime family in town on your side a good thing? Is the help he's getting the help he needs? And can Jake figure that out before it's too late?
