Free Excerpt From The Book (requires Adobe Acrobat Reader) Tales of the supernatural featuring Reverend Montague Wynnter and Sir Charles Berwick.The Reverend Montague Wynnter stories are based in the earlier part of the twentieth century and there are parallels to the Sherlock Holmes adventures of the latter part of the nineteenth century. The partnership between Reverend Montague Wynnter and Sir Charles Berwick is not unlike that between Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson and the two investigators approach the world of the supernatural in the same dauntless and indefatigable spirit in which Holmes and Watson approach the underworld of Victorian London. Berwick is often bemused and skeptical about Wynnters findings but follows him in a spirit of true friendship, allowing his friend to take the lead in the investigations, however, when it comes to action it is usually Charlie Berwick who is called upon to do the deed. As with Sherlock Holmes all the Montague Wynnter adventures take place in Great Britain and feature all manner of supernatural adversaries in the seventeen stories that are related in this volume, from vampires to werewolves, from golems to ghouls.

John Donovan was born in Liverpool in the Northwest of England. He first got his interest in the supernatural from walking through a creepy part of town to get to school. His interest was further picqued by a visit to Highgate Cemetery in the 1970s to view the tomb of the Highgate Vampire. He now lives in Germany with his wife and two children and hopes to write many more Montague Wynnter stories. |
