Shades of Gray is about America straying from her founding fathers’ concern for principles of right conduct. The book asks: Can we live with that? and Do we want to? It challenges readers to contemplate America’s past, present, and future, realizing that virtues and values which historically worked could work again if allowed importance in today’s lifestyle.
The book examines values that seem to be absent or neglected in our world today: responsibility to do what’s necessary; respect for others and self; sacrifice of our time for the sake of family loyalty; integrity among peoples and communities; self-discipline to do what we know is good; enthusiasm to get excited about simple things; excellence toward all our obligations; courage to undertake the difficult; compassion toward all people; faith in God; and love for America.
Shades of Gray poses these questions: Are these basic values forever hidden, out of reach? Will it be as easy to reclaim them as it was to abandon them? The book declares that America can shed her apathy and aim for a better today and greater tomorrows, choosing to turn toward her founding fathers’ worthy design for this nation.
