About the Book
|
Poetry
By Numbers is for now James's final book of three, which started
with Side Salad, Thought for Food and
has now finished with Poetry By Numbers.
Poetry By Numbers treads similar themes to the previous
two books, 45 pages of over 80 poems set against photographs of Southend
on Sea in England, a town steeped in Victorian and Edwardian history.
The poems cover the last four years of James's life like the two previous
book they aim to reflect life as opposed to explaining it or justifying
it and again the photgrpahs act as the backdrop. Just as you live
life, the city or twon you live in acts as a bacdrop and directly
or indirectly acts as an influence.
With the two previous volumes of poetry they form an interesting and
often obscure reflection of life, relationships, lost jobs, lost hope,
dreams, they are part of everones's everyday life, poetry like a mirror
will reflect this. The books also show someone growing up in their
early twenties, coping with change and settleing dow after the teenage
years.
Poetry By Numbers is not the final book of poetry, but
for now with Side Salad and Thought For Food it
completes the set, which reflect and tell a story of life. The photographs
in Poetry By Numbers have had various tints and a slightly
blurred effect added, sometimes life can be a little out of focus.
