The book Levels in Structure in Fiction provides writers and educators with a guided tour of the different levels of structure in fiction. Beginning with a brief look at the importance of individual letters in writing fiction, the book devotes one or more chapters to each of the following: words, phrases, sentences, paragraphs, scenes, chapters, and complete books. Levels of Structure in Fiction goes on to consider two more levels: the series, and the impact of other literature on your fiction.
By simply becoming aware of each level and its significance, a writer’s product will get better. By focusing on the opportunities and pitfalls at each level, a writer’s product will improve dramatically.
Exercises are given at the end of most of the chapters to help readers deepen their understanding of and their facility with the individual levels.
