Awareness is
the key to understanding, and it is with this belief that the author,
Nelma Jean Bryson, shares her story of physical hardship, emotional
turmoil, mental anguish, and spiritual growth. Our becoming aware
that we are responsible for our own health, regardless of the circumstances,
empowers us to make choices that create better health and more enjoyment
of our lives. Nelma traveled many roads to find a satisfactory solution
to her physical limitations and on these roads encountered the all-too-common
thread of being considered a hypochondriac and a mental case.
Our society tends to foster these beliefs regarding the health of
our women and we are only now, in the 21st century, beginning to
see that we ourselves know more about our own bodies than anyone
regardless of their training and education. Our awareness of our
ability to choose our medical care, discuss this care with our chosen
caregivers, and, ultimately, to make the decisions that determine
our own health is a giant step in the direction of changes for our
medical industry.
Nelma found that good health is a possibility and that working in
partnership with her health care providers is the best possible
way to achieve the best possible health. It is Nelmas hope that
this sharing of her story will help you become aware of your own
power to choose health care that will provide the best possible
quality of life and the best possible health you may enjoy.
Nothing Short of a Miracle takes the reader on a roller
coaster ride through the trials and tribulations, tears and joys,
disappointments and victories experienced by the author over a period
of thirty years of personal experiences, personal awareness, learning
opportunities, and spiritual growth as she travels the rocky road
to better health.
