You can develop
a mindset of continually learning what is natural for the body and
fitting for your personal tastes and metabolism. You can develop
an understanding of how artificial our lifestyle and food supply
has become, as well as how society's attitudes have influenced us
all. Then you can make gradual, permanent changes to last a lifetime
of being fit and trim.
This book contains dietary, sociological, and psychological information.
It's designed to help people become their own fitness gurus. Anyone
can learn what a more natural diet and lifestyle is about, so he
or she can make permanent changes to sidestep the common habits
of our society that foster obesity, diabetes, cancer, and a host
of other noninfectious diseases.
The levels of problems such as obesity and diabetes are quite new
in our society, when viewed from a historical or global perspective.
Common attitudes and habits do not foster the natural health that
our bodies are capable of enjoying. Most diets are no more than
temporary interruptions of a lifestyle that fosters noninfectious
epidemics. Institutions that have been entrusted to take care of
such societal problems have been unable to do so effectively because
they are part of the society that produced the problem. They take
a microscopic rather than a macroscopic view of any disease or symptom,
totally missing the real cause. They also regularly dispense useless
or impractical information, when they're not contradicting one another.
The body has its own intelligence that always seeks to express its
innate potential health. Anyone can learn to tune into that intelligence
and work with it. Lifestyle changes happen all the time, and one
can choose to make changes according to what is more natural in
order to be naturally fit and trim. If you don't change now, lifestyle
changes will occur later on in life, as you buy bigger clothes,
have joint replacements or bypass operations, take insulin shots,
and so on. The alternative is to die early.
Anyone can learn about the reality of food addiction, about how
processed food impacts the human digestive system, about the ineffectiveness
of fad diets such as the low-fat diet, and more. Anyone can learn
why a minority of our population are unlikely to suffer from the
health problems that most Americans risk getting, and live more
like they do.
Once you have knowledge of what you should change in your lifestyle,
it's important to be able to make the change in the real world,
in your life. Many people say, "I know what I should be doing, I
just can't do it." This book explores the nature of habit, attitudes,
motivation, self-talk, and many other psychological topics that
will aid the reader break out of the past. All behavior originates
in the mind. Even good advice, when applied to an old mindset, will
have no effect. Change your mind and you change your life - for good!
