If one meets a stranger in most awkward circumstances, is there anything one can predict from the encounter? Perhaps not. So, there should be no surprise by what happens to those who meet in such a way, should there? But it is outcomes that concern us and not predicting. It certainly hasn’t started out like a story with a happy ending. People with conflict and confusion dominating their lives, and none of them knows what is coming. Max has lived a lot of life, after all he has reached typical retirement age. He has encountered many crossroads and knows he will encounter others. Yet he is still surprised by the choices he now faces and wonders what is next. Eva, the single mother just starting her career, faces a crossroads of her own. A crossroads that has her frightened and confused. She is frightened not only for herself but for her infant daughter as well. Her fear is not just for the new job or her new life as a single mother, but more basic than that, she has no experience with a newborn. Carly, the infant daughter, seems not to care about any of that. She does seem to care about Copper, the puppy she meets. Then there is the wild card. Is he to be a part of the tale or is he just a casual acquaintance? Everyone knows that rain falls in our lives, but will it be a gentle rain or will it be a storm? Will we face it alone, or will someone help us? And if someone helps us, how will they find us, and will we recognize them?
